Deck repair
Most decks don't need to come down. They need a few boards, a joist sistered, a stair tread replaced or the flashing fixed where the deck meets the house. That's what I do.
Problems we fix
- Soft or rotted deck boards
- Sagging or rotted joists
- Loose, split or rotted stair treads
- Failed or missing ledger flashing
- Popped nails and rusted fasteners
- Loose or missing joist hangers
Repair or replace?
If the framing is solid, I repair. Boards and treads are cheap to swap; joists can often be sistered.
If the ledger is rotted, most of the joists are soft, or the posts are failing at the footings, I'll tell you straight that it's time to replace — and I'll point you to someone who builds decks.

Questions
- Can you replace just a few boards?
- Yes. That's most of my work. I match the material as closely as I can.
- Do I need a permit for a deck repair?
- Board and tread replacement usually doesn't. Structural work sometimes does. I'll tell you if yours does and handle it.
- How fast can you get it done?
- Most deck repairs take a day or two once materials are in.
